A bit History about conception of Artzond Festival.
The first festival was implemented in 2004, that time it was called Artconcept.
The following festivals were held in 2005, 2006, 2008, 2010, 2017. In 2008 the festival was renamed to Artzond.
Festival is a truly independent event, since for the entire duration of the event, we, the organizers, have not been able to receive financial support from the authorities, although we have applied for grants to the St. Petersburg Department of Culture several times. Occasionally we have to suspend the project for an indefinite period, but we understand that the lack of finance should not be an obstacle. The cost of of holding the festival has always been minimal. Supporting from the individuals who are not indifferent to the activities of this event. As well as contributions from the participants (authors) of the festival, this is the whole budget of the event.
We could manage a rent of space, publish catalogs, and organize buffets at the openings.
In the first festival (2004) showed interest and participation – Hristo (Hristo Yavashev) and Jeanne-Claude (Jeanne-Claude Denat de Guillebon), and also the puples and followers of J. Beuys, who presented their works, as well as documentary materials about their teacher. The projects of all the participants of our forum are no less talented, relevant and interesting in their creative manifestations.
We remain that we need to continue to implement this project, since we believe that the process of the formation of Conceptual Art is still relevant.
The ‘open’ question remains – What actually is and should be ‘conceptual’ nor by name but in essence ?? The question is rhetorical, and there are many opinions and positions on this subject; so as the well-known postulates of Marcel Duchamp and Joseph Beuys, the masters in this field, which many authors still follow. But the world is moving and time has not stopped. And we want to discover – to show and understand does the process is going progressively, and whether there is at least something moving at all, and whether there are updates (upgrades) of theory and practice.
